Milkshake Monday is happening again this week.  After a holiday weekend of binge eating and drinking I can’t quite shake myself back into healthy mode.  So, I made this milkshake to help ease me back into the Monday routine! The best thing about this drink is that it takes an awesome dessert and turns into a boozy drink.  As always I encourage you to use this as a dessert for a dinner party or as a fun weekend drinking treat.  I used some amazing booze from Seattle to make this boozy milkshake called 3 Howls banana vodka .  This vodka is amazing because it has an amazing banana flavor which is accented with cinnamon and vanilla which blend perfect in this milkshake.  3 Howls also offers some other amazing booze including white rum, single malt whiskey, gin, hopped whiskey, blood orange vodka, and rosemary vodka.  I love this company because they believe in creating exceptional spirits with a unique northwest flavor.  I like the unique spirits offered and the banana vodka does not disappoint.  Shake up your Monday with this bananas foster milkshake and 3 howls banana vodka! Cheers!

Recipe: Bananas Foster Milkshake

3 ounces of 3 Howls Bananas Vodka

2 scoops of vanilla bean ice cream

½ cup of milk

¼ stick of butter

1/8 cup of sugar

¾ of a banana sliced horizontally into 4 pieces

½ cup heavy cream

½ tablespoon of powdered sugar

¼ teaspoon of vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract

Garnish: 2 slices of banana, whip cream, and caramel

Homemade Whip Cream: (feel free to use purchased whip cream and omit this step)

Use a chilled mixing bowl and add heavy cream, powered sugar and vanilla bean paste or extract

Mix on high until stiff peaks are formed –do not overbeat it will turn into butter

Set whip cream aside

*I put the whip cream into a zip loc bag and cut a hole in one of the corners so that I could pipe onto the milkshake

Caramelized Bananas:

In a medium skillet melt butter then add sugar

When the sugar and butter are mixed add banana slices

Caramelize banana slices then take skillet off of the flame

Add 1.5 ounces of vodka to the skillet and return to the flame

Set the alcohol on fire by either using the stove flame or a long lighter

*Be extremely carefully when setting alcohol on fire it can produce a big flame so stand back and be extremely carefully.  You can omit this step

Let the alcohol cook off then set skillet aside (this process should produce caramelized bananas and caramel to use for the garnish)

Drink Preparation:

In a blender combine 1.5 ounces of vodka, vanilla bean ice cream, 2 slices of the caramelized banana, and milk

Blend until desired consistency

Note: add more ice cream if mixture is too thin or more milk if it too thick

Pour blended mixture into serving glass

Garnish with 2 slices of the caramelized banana, caramel, and homemade whip cream
