ALDER: This week Travis Brown, beverage director at Wylie Dufresne’s popular East Village restaurant, launched a rotating series of vintage cocktails using spirits collected from the ‘60s and ’70s. The bottles Travis purchased were sourced from a private collector near Rome. These bottles come from the same supplier who purchased items from the set of Mad Men. Travis worked with Edgar Harden of Old Spirits Company to source rare gin, vermouth, bourbon and other spirits from the ‘60s and ‘70s. He'll be using these special spirits to create limited edition vintage cocktails available nightly for $25 (as once each rare bottle is finished, there’s no replacing it). The menu kicked off with the Manhattan using Four Roses Bourbon from the '70s and Martini Rosso Vermouth from the 60s. Don't miss out on the upcoming cocktails which include the Martinez made with vintage Plymouth Gin, Stock Maraschino, and Martini Rosso Vermouth (all from the ‘60s), as well as the Daquiri with vintage rum.
