Recipe: Clove and Pear Red Wine Sour


1.5 ounces of bourbon

1 ounce of red wine

½ ounce of pear and clove simple syrup  (See recipe below)

1/2 lemon, juiced

1 egg white

1 cup of ice

Garnish: dried pear slice


In a cocktail shaker combine bourbon, simple syrup, lemon juice, and egg white

Shake until foamy then add ice and shake until chilled

Strain mixture into glass

Using the back of a spoon pour red wine slowly over the spoon near the side of the serving glass

Garnish with a dried pear slice

Yields: 1 serving

1 cup of water

1 cup of sugar

1 pear cut into slices

8 cloves


In a saucepan combine sugar, water, pear slices and cloves.  Let it boil for until sugar dissolves

Strain mixture and let it cool

Extra syrup may be stored in a glass container for up to a week.
