William Grant & Sons’ Sailor Jerry rum is marking the Fourth of July holiday with a new limited edition bottle. Rolling out this month, the black bottle features pin-up imagery from tattoo artist Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins, as well as patriotic symbols such as an eagle and stars. The commemorative packaging will be available nationwide by July 4, retailing at $15.99 a 750-ml.
Nashua, New Hampshire-based Vertical Spirits has debuted Nautical Gin, its first craft spirits offering. Nautical ($33 a 750-ml.), an American-style gin, features coastal botanicals, coriander, lemongrass, elderberry, spearmint and allspice among other ingredients. Test launched in New Hampshire earlier this spring, it will roll out across Massachusetts and Rhode Island this summer, with New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Georgia and Florida launches slated for later in the year.
New Hampshire craft producer Tamworth Distilling & Mercantile is set to release Camp Robber whiskeyjack, a blend of Bourbon, apple brandy, apple cider and caramelized sugar. Debuting in limited quantities at select retailers, Camp Robber is billed as offering an early taste of Tamworth’s forthcoming whiskey, which is still being aged. The distiller’s other existing products include White Mountain vodka, White Whiskey and Tamworth Garden gins. Tamworth Distilling & Mercantile is the latest project of Steven Grasse, the creator of the Hendrick’s, Sailor Jerry and Art in the Age spirits brands.
Beam Suntory has launched a new Japanese whisky label, Suntory Whisky Toki. Retailing at around $40 a bottle, Toki is a blend of whiskies from the Hakushu, Yamazaki and Chita distilleries. The 43%-abv offering is rolling out this month exclusively in the U.S., with a Canada launch to follow in July. Beam Suntory says Toki lends itself to consumption neat, on the rocks or in a highball, which has become the preferred serve for whisky in its native Japan.
Diageo has introduced a new George Dickel 17-year-old Tennessee whisky, which will be sold exclusively in the Volunteer State. Retailing at $75 a 375-ml. bottle, Dickel 17-year-old is debuting this month. Bottled by hand at George Dickel’s Cascade Hollow Distillery in Tullahoma, Tennessee, the 17-year-old features the Dickel brand’s signature mashbill of 84% corn, 8% rye and 8% malted barley.
San Francisco craft spirits producer Distillery No. 209 is debuting No. 209 Barrel Reserve Gins, including three small-batch gins aged in used wine barrels. Starting with the same botanical profile as the flagship No. 209 Gin, the new entries are aged for three to six months in former Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon barrels, respectively. The barrels are sourced from Napa Valley-based Rudd Oakville Estate and Edge Hill Estate. No 209 Barrel Reserve Gins—all 92 proof and retailing for $55—are rolling out this month in the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, New York City, Chicago and South Florida, with more markets to follow.
Ireland’s West Cork Distillers has launched a pair of limited release whiskies—West Cork Black Reserve and West Cork Barrel Proof—in the U.S. The two new entries are limited to 4,800 bottles each, with Black Reserve retailing at $40 a 750-ml. and Barrel Proof at $55 a 750-ml. Concurrent with their launch, West Cork has refreshed the packaging for its full Irish whiskey lineup, which also includes the brand’s Original Classic Blend ($27) and 10-year Single Malt ($40).
