S o, we’re not even to September yet and we're already have the Fall itch. We're getting things started with our very own Apple Pie Bourbon liqueur recipe, featuring Jim Beam, granny smith apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Infused liquors have become a HUGE deal not only in the retail liquor industry, but also in the bars. Why buy a flavored spirit and have the exact same cocktail as everyone else, when you can make your own and guarantee nobody makes a drink like yours. A good bar as all the flavors, a great bar makes their own. Next time you’re in your favorite bar, check and see if you notice some jars or containers on the back bar with all sorts of fruits and things inside of some liquid. That’s the secret sauce. Now you can make your own at home an join in on the fun. Now remember, we’re stubborn, so although we originally intended on infusing for a few days, we left it in a month. Try it tonight, and see how it tastes on in a few weeks or even a couple of months.

*Note – We made two batches, one using Jim Beam Bourbon, and one using Makers Mark 46.

Home Made Apple Pie Bourbon Liqueur: (Makes one jar)

  • 375 ML Bottle of Bourbon ( We used Jim Beam AND Makers Mark 46 to compare and contrast)
  • 1 Mason Jar
  • 1 Granny Smith Apples (Works well with Golden Delicious as well)
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Nutmeg
  • 1 Vanilla bean (Optional)

Directions: Cut your apple into square chunks and fill the mason jar with the pieces. Next, stick in your two cinnamon sticks. Where you place them isn’t too important, they will be shaken and infused. If you prefer a more vanilla taste, this is where you would also place in your vanilla bean. Next, sprinkle in your nutmeg. Lastly, add in your bourbon until the jar is completely full. Close the lid, seal it tight, and give it a good shake. Now let it sit and marinate for 3-4 days at least and when its ready, strain it through a cheesecloth and enjoy!

*Note, you may not be able use all the bourbon and all the apple chunks together depending on the size of your apple. if needed, you can remove some chunks to get more bourbon in it.
