It’s not always easy to get away, especially if the desired getaway destination includes the words tropical island. There’s the travel time, cost of a plane ticket, expense of food and lodging, SPF 500, and the list goes on and on.

But do not fret! Tropical drinks are here to rescue you from any mid-summer, staycation blues. For the cost of an in-flight snack you can make one of these drinks at home and enjoy it by the pool, in the bathtub, or while watching reruns of the original Hawaii Five-O. Whatever can quench your thirst and make you happy at the same time is the sure bet.

Blended Kiwi Daiquiri

3 frozen kiwis
2 ounces Malibu Rum
1 ounce simple syrup
½ ounce lime juice

Directions: Mix all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth. For a thicker consistency, consider freezing cubes of coconut water, then adding ½ to one cup. Pour the blended drink into a coconut and garnish with a lime.

Blended Watermelon Daiquiri

7 large chunks of frozen watermelon
2 ounces Bacardi Rock Coconut Rum
1 ounce DeKuyper Watermelon Pucker Schnapps (optional!)
½ ounce lime juice

Directions: Mix all of the ingredients in a blender until smooth. Add more lime if desired, or add ice if you’d like more of a milkshake texture to your drink.
