Happy Tuesday!  It's softball Tuesday for me, which I am excited about.  Tonight we are playing a really good team filled with fun players.  It will be a good time.  My second oldest is on a field trip right now with his class which he was excited about, so I can't wait to hear all about it when he gets home.  My oldest, the girls and I are just relaxing at home.....we had a busy day yesterday.

There has been a lot of talk about the 4th of July around here lately which has given me the idea to create a new patriotic cocktail.  I searched through my bar for something blue...blue curacao?  Nope, couldn't find any........ahhhh, blueberry schnapps = perfect!  I haven't used this in a while and it's definitely time to use it again.

This cocktail is SUPER good!  It is definitely one to drink on a warm/hot day.  It has cake vodka (hence the "celebration" part) and the blueberry schnapps mixes well with it especially topped with the sprite, yum!  I poured some grenadine down the side to give it that American feel and it is perfect!

Here is my recipe for a Patriotic Celebration:

  • 1 1/2 ounces cake vodka
  • 1 ounce blueberry schnapps
  • 3 ounces lemon-lime soda
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine
In a shaker, add ice, cake vodka and blueberry schnapps.  Shake and dump everything into a cocktail glass.  Add more ice until glass is filled 3/4 full.  Pour sprite on top.  Pour grenadine down the side of the glass.

Here is to a new layered patriotic cocktail!
