At Cindy's, the rooftop restaurant perched atop the historic Chicago Athletic Association hotel, spirit guide Nandini Khaund’s inky black cocktail, the Reanimator, is a refreshing but opaque drink that makes the sky during the eclipse.

  • 1.5 oz Avua Prata Cachaça
  • 1 oz lime juice
  • 6 blueberries
  • 0.5 oz Demerara syrup
  • .75 tsp organic activated charcoal (to taste and to color)
  • 1 oz ginger beer
Garnish: fresh pansy

Muddle 6 blueberries in your shaker tin, then add all ingredients except ginger beer. Add ice, shake vigorously. Strain over ice into a rocks glass, top with 1 oz of ginger beer, and place pansy on top.
