The first question that anyone will ask about the Rebel Yell 100 Bourbon Whiskey is “is it better than the standard Rebel Yell Bourbon?”. It’s a fair question and in an effort to not bury the lead I’ll spoil the reveal and tell you right now… yes. Yes, it is.

Rebel Yell 100 Bourbon Whiskey

The copywriter for Luxco already beat me to the lazy writing punch by saying it’s it’s a dialed up version of the original so I sat in front of my computer for 20 minutes trying to think of a better line to describe it and couldn’t, because it is. Having less water added to the whiskey makes a big difference as we’ll see in the bourbon review below.

Rebel Yell 100 Review: Overall and Score

The difference between this and the standard Rebel Yell is instantly noticeable. The Aroma reminds me, a bit, of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the way the peanuts and dark fruit come together; Palate does the same but in an oakier way, like a barrel-aged PB&J; Finish is similar to the palate but with a bit of toffee for dessert. I’m enjoying this more than I thought I would.

The nuttiness in this Rebel Yell 100 is really pronounced and nice. It screams Heaven Hill to me and that’s never a bad thing. The oakiness and nuttiness pair well with the dark confectionary sweetness and dark fruity sweetness ties it all together. I’m digging this one, well-done HH/Luxco folks!

SCORE: 85/100 (B)
