DrinkWire is Liquor.com’s showcase for the best articles, recipes and reviews from the web’s top writers and bloggers. In this post, SaloonBox offers an eclipse cocktail.
On Monday, Aug. 21, 2017 all of the contiguous United States will be able to witness the solar eclipse as it cuts its path east-southeast from Madras, Oregon to Columbia, South Carolina.
Folks from coast to coast are preparing once-in-a-lifetime viewing parties with stellar snacks and libations. For those a little bit nervous that the best of all the years have gone by (they haven’t), Zachary Blair, chief mixologist at the rustically elegant Whiteface Lodge resort in Lake Placid, New York – where the eclipse will be 62.2% total – has added the “Bonnie Tyler” to the cocktail menu at Kanu Lounge.
- 1 egg white
- 2 oz. DeLeon Tequila
- 1 oz. heavy cream
- .5 oz. lime juice
- .5 oz. simple syrup
Add all ingredients to shaker filled with ice. Shake and double-strain. Top with 3 oz. sparkling water. Add 2 dashes of chocolate mole bitters. Garnish with crescent moon coffee grounds and chocolate shavings.
So turn around, bright eyes – and be sure to wear those eclipse glasses!
