The Horse That Kicked Back takes the refreshing mint flavors of the classic Derby cocktail and elevates it by muddling the leaves with jalapeño simple syrup. Smooth Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey ties the flavors of the drink together. This cocktail is definitely a spicy, Southern take on a classic Julep.
In case you’re unfamiliar, Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is inspired by the best whiskey-maker the world never knew, and the first African-American master distiller on record in the US: Nathan “Nearest” Green. The Godfather of Tennessee Whiskey, it is Nearest who is thought to have perfected the Lincoln County Process for making Tennessee Whiskey.
