Bruichladdich Bere Barley 2008

I attended the inaugural Los Angeles event last year and here’s a recap of some of the best and/or more interesting!

Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all the new stuff from Bruichladdich. I was glad to try some of the new expressions now on the market including the Bere Barley 2008.

The Sexton

Last year was very interesting because no one knew what to expect. Yes, it was touted as a “fun” event meant for all experience levels- from whiskey novices to those drinking whiskey for years.

New Irish whiskey The Sexton drew the crowds to try their single malt.

Aberlour – A’Bunadh

WhiskyX was also where I got to spend some time with Aberlour and it was the first time I tried the cask strength A’Bunadh.

Wyoming Whiskey

It was exciting to also see many American craft distilleries including Wyoming Whiskey. When I first tried it years ago in Wyoming, I knew it had promise though I am glad to now say it’s much better as it’s matured.

Scotch Malt Whisky Society

Other than bottle shares, I hadn’t seen Scotch Malt Whisky Society at other whisky festivals (or perhaps I had but it was always mobbed). It was good to really spend some time tasting through some of the offerings.

Highland Park – Full Volume

Woah, woah, woah! What’s going on here? Highland Park brought a few special bottles including this Full Volume I got to try last year. It was distilled in 1999 and just bottled in 2017.

Wild Turkey Single Barrel

I like Wild Turkey and it’s always a whiskey I will buy for my home bar. I was excited to try their Single Barrel and Rare Breed.

Dancing Goat – Limousin Rye

And how can I forget Dancing Goat. I first tried their Limosin Rye at WhiskyX last year and had a chance to visit the distillery last summer in Madison.

I’m pleased to announce I have a pair of tickets to give away for The WhiskyX! Leave a comment on what’s your favorite whiskey or what you’re excited to try at WhiskyX. Bonus! You can also tell me about the first time you ever had whiskey. It may increase your chances of winning!

See you there!
